Electromagnetic
theory is the theoretical basis of communication theory. Wire transmission lines, waveguides,
and fiber optics, in addition to free space transmission, constitute
the communication channels; the physical media for the information exchange. In order to understand and to design
new and efficient communications systems, the Telematics Engineer
must acquire sound knowledge on this area.
