About me
I like to say that I am American, because I was born in Central America and soon moved to Mexico, where I learned a great deal about life and death. I spent ten years of my training in South America, in the Cidade Maravilhosa, and much of my cultural baggage comes from there. Now I am back in North America, at ITAM.
The plural and the interdisciplinary have governed me since childhood, and that happens naturally when you work in applied mathematics, which is the finest game human beings have.
The Hyperbolica 1 roll
Two cities, two frames. I mounted them myself, and the name of the roll comes from the equations I solve. The other one, Tenochtitlan, is on the home page.

From March 2010 to June 2013 I was a postdoctoral researcher at IMPA, supported by FAPERJ and CNPq. At ITAM I have been a full-time professor since August 2013, and full professor since August 2020.
